late adventures

5/29/2012

i'm back from a lovely trip in Vermont, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. this was my first time vacationing on this side of the continent and what i found was absolute bliss and a desire to never leave. the rolling hills, stretching green lands, rivers, quiet roads, friendly folks, and the absolute stillness of mind was exactly what i needed after a hard working semester. now it's back to life and giving the city of oakland a shot of fulfilling what i had left behind on the east coast, my heart.
i'll gradually be sharing pic of my adventures, even the mountain trail biking trip i did, it was my first! hope you all have been well and haven't missed me too much.
besos!

a little sunshine please...

1/25/2012

finally no rain! it's been awfully cold, wet, and foggy in these parts. the sun has been poking out a few times and i'm hoping to see more of it as i am beginning to miss the sun. we still have cloudy skies and and cold rides which i usually try to make up for by wearing something that makes me happy, like yellow tights, colorful gloves, or a red scarf. for the long commute i have to school i'm usually stoked about riding through the cold because i get warm when riding like i'm in the Tour de France. but alas! i'm ready for more sun along my rides, can it just be spring already? please.

what do you do to bring a little "sunshine" into dark days?

bike love lane

1/19/2012

bike rides are always full of surprises on this side of the pond, such as this guerilla bike lane i found in Oakland (gotta love the artistic approach to this). there are always surprises popping up here that makes biking a lot of fun. it's the little things like this that make my experiences on the road a lot more adventurous. you never know what your going to find, you know?

fe and bumpin bici: photo by rudy rude

some friends of mine putting on this event in santa monica asked that i would share this with you readers if you're down for some art, activism, and a mass bike ride. check out the event here. my friend fe will be out there sharing her words on her bumpin bici.
i love how they call this "la otra 'cinco de mayo.'" although i pride myself as a third generation mexican american i do not celebrate cinco de mayo, many people i know will hear it from me over and over again and i may tell you every year as well that cinco de mayo is not, i repeat, is not mexican independence day. so my american's, have a few rounds on some fun facts about cinco de mayo here, don't forget the taco's tambien, salute!
